The Texas Republican Party Platform -- Government Spending
The Texas Republican Party talks about controlling spending, as shown in the following paragraph from the Republican platform:
______________
"We believe that government spending is out of control and needs to be reduced. We support fundamental, immediate tax reform that is simple, fair, and fully disclosed. We commend President George W. Bush’s principled stand to reduce taxes and stimulate the economy. "
______________
Government spending HAS been out of control...under the Bush Administration. We have record deficits. Much of this debt is foreign-owned. And George W. Bush's tax cuts have done nothing to stimulate the economy.
Under Bill Clinton, we had balanced budgets and our strongest economy ever, with 22 million new jobs created between 1993-2001.
At the end of the day, Republicans talk the talk.
But Democrats walk the walk.

Thank you Vik Verma for another insightful look at the Texas Republican Party and it's policies.
The truth is that both political parties are very good at spending our money. Without a balanced budget ammendment at the federal level, spending will continue to be out of control.
The most important thing about money is:
Where (or who) do you get it from?
What (or with whom) do you spend it on?
Republicans insist on taking an unfair portion of money from the middle class and the working poor and spending it on worthless homeland security projects that companies that also happen to be doners to the GOP promote instead of education and healthcare.

I would also add that how it is spent also matters. Throwing money at problems isn't necessariliy the solution. Spending wisely and in a manner that empowers people is the way to go.
We did this under Bill Clinton.
We can do it again
