Bush and Hurricane Katrina
From Steve Richardson
Could President Bush do a worst job than he has so far handling the current disaster. After days there are still people without food and water. I am very saddened by the US Government response. People are dying and Bush is doing nothing. This is very, very sad.

Yes indeed. This has been a disgrace. The Bush administration, which had already ignore the potential disaster over the last four years, has compounded this problem with their poor response. They are more interested in politics than anything else.
The efficient and responsive FEMA built by the Clinton Administration -- specifically James Lee Witt -- is now just a memory. Now, we must deal with Bush cronies who are not up to the job.
I don't think that it is a coincidence that Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco has hired Witt to assist. She wants someone who knows what he's doing.
